Abilene Turkey Trot winds through the Lytle neighborhood in Abilene, Texas. It is a great race for a fun time with family and friends. Proceeds benefit the West Texas Rehab Center and the Abilene Runners Club. Along with the 5K, there is also a 1-mile fun-run for kids. Early Registration will be thru Midnight, Sunday on 11-18-18(may change). The course is a 5K route through Lytle Lake neighborhood. The race begins and ends outside Shotwell Stadium. When arriving, the road will be blocked to thru traffic. Entry will be available from the North side (Hwy 36 / ES 11th Street) where parking is available on the North and West side of Shotwell Stadium. Race cancellation due to inclement weather is at the discretion of the Race Director and the Abilene Runners Club. No refunds will be available for cancellation of event.
Awards will be given to Overall male and female, Masters male and female, and Grand Masters male and female. Finishers medals will be given to everyone who completes the course.Prices: (Early registration ends midnight of 11-18-18(tentative)

Packet Pickup will be at Abilene Running Co located at 2654 Industrial Blvd on Wednesday, Nov. 21st from Noon - 6:30 PM. Race Day packet pick-up and late registration from 7:00am - 8:00am. No chip-timed registrations will be availabe after 8:00am, but we will not turn anyone away that wants to register to run /walk the race.
5K starts at 8:30 sharp - no exceptions!1 mile kids -fun-run begins at 9:15am RACE DAY REMINDERS:
Please place your bib on the front, outside of your clothing. Do not put anything over your bib as this could impede the timing equipment from detecting your chip.
Please arrive prior to 8:00am to ensure you can be at the starting line in plenty of time. Pre-race ceremony usually begins between 8:10am-8:15am.
This is West Texas so be prepared for any type of weather.
The Expo Center parking lot is locked at 10:30am. If you park in the Expo Center parking lot please be sure and DO NOT leave your vehicle after the race is completed. We ask that you please do not park in the Expo Center parking lot. We highly encourage everyone to use the Shotwell Stadium parking.
Again, no refunds will be available if the race has to be cancelled.
Do I need to pay for the 1-mile kids run, if I have entered them in the 5K? No. You do not need to pay twice. Just make sure the child(ren) receive only one medal. Medals will be handed out at the finish line of both races.
Do I need to pay for my child to run the 5K if I have entered them in the kids 1-mile fun-run? That depends. If your child would like to wear the 5K bib with a timing chip: Yes, the 5K fee for an individual needs to be paid. If your child just wants to run the 5K with the 1-mile fun run bib: No, an additional fee is not necessary.
Where do bibs need to be worn? Bibs need to be worn on the front of the body to ensure that race officials are aware that you are a participant. They must also be on the outside of the clothes to ensure the timing equipment can effectively read the chip. PLEASE CHECK THE BIB FOR ACCURATE INFORMATION.
Care for bibs: Please do not submerge the bib in water or allow the bib to be creased or crimped. The timing chip is on the back and if damaged, will not properly communicate with the timing equipment.
Where is packet pick-up? Packet pickup is at Abilene Running Co. located at 2654 Industrial Blvd, Abilene, Texas 79605. Packet pick-up time will be 12:00 noon to 6:30pm on Wednesday, Nov. 21st. Packets can also be picked up on race day, but please arrive prior to 7:30am to allow plenty of time prior to the start of the race.
Can I exchange my t-shirt? Unfortunately, no t-shirt exchanges will be allowed after Sunday, Nov. 18th . T-shirt exchanges can be made after the race starts.
What time does the race start? The race will start promptly at 8:30am regardless of whether all participants are present. The race will only be cancelled due to inclement weather. Race cancellation is at the sole discretion of the Race Director and race officials. There will be no refunds, credits, or exchanges in the case of a race cancellation.
What happens if I do not pick up my race packet? All race packets including t-shirt and bib will be forfeited if they have not been claimed by the start of the race Thanksgiving morning. Race packets will not be mailed to participants.
RACE INFORMATION · Please avoid the start/finish line while wearing the bib to avoid false timing records. The race results will be posted on-site away from the start/finish line.
· The race is an open course, which means there could be vehicle traffic on the course during the race. Please watch for vehicles and other traffic while participating in the Turkey Trot.
Please arrive at the race site prior to 7:45am in order to hear all pre-race instructions and line up for the race prior to the 8:30am start time. The race time will not be delayed for any reason, except inclement weather.
